Kitchen Remodels , Bathrooms , and Full Home
Working with a local architect Kit Newman. We touched almost every portion of this 1913 Seattle craftsman home.
This Seattle kitchen remodel brings together thoughtful design and everyday functionality in a way that feels both elevated and effortless. A new drop cove ceiling with ambient LED lighting creates a soft, inviting glow throughout the space, while surface‑mount fixtures add a modern touch and ensure the work zones stay bright and practical.
Because cooking and coffee were top priorities for this client, the layout was reimagined to make both activities intuitive and accessible. Streamlined cabinetry and high‑performance appliances support a smooth workflow, and the storage solutions were tailored to keep essentials within easy reach without cluttering the space.
One of the standout moments in the design is the contrasting walnut coffee bar — a warm, sculptural element that anchors the room and gives the client a dedicated spot for their daily ritual. It adds depth, texture, and a touch of personality, balancing beautifully with the rest of the kitchen’s clean, contemporary palette.
The result is a kitchen that feels purposeful, welcoming, and distinctly suited to the way this homeowner lives.
The reimagining of this home extended well beyond the kitchen. On the main floor, the bathroom layout was thoughtfully reworked to create space for a double vanity and a generously sized shower — a meaningful upgrade that adds both comfort and functionality to the daily routine. Downstairs, the basement bathroom was expanded to accommodate a classic clawfoot tub, introducing a touch of timeless charm and giving the lower level a spa‑like feel.
Throughout the remodel, preserving the home’s original character was a guiding priority. In the dining and living rooms, the existing built‑ins were carefully restored by planing the original doors and installing new hinges, allowing these beloved features to continue shining without losing their historic integrity. These subtle but impactful details honor the craftsmanship of the past while integrating seamlessly with the refreshed spaces.
For this client, maintaining the soul of the home was just as important as modernizing it — and this remodel strikes that balance with intention. The result is a home that feels renewed yet familiar, updated in all the right ways while still carrying the warmth and personality of its original design.
